Funding/Grants/ Fellowships and Employment

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) invites applications to its Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program for 2007-2008. The program, based at NED's International Forum for Democratic Studies in Washington, D.C., offers five month fellowships for practitioners to improve strategies and techniques for building democracy abroad and five to ten month fellowships for scholars to conduct original research for publication. Projects may focus on the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural aspects of democratic development and may include a range of methodologies and approaches. The program is intended to support practitioners and scholars from new and aspiring democracies, though distinguished scholars from the United States and other established democracies are also eligible to apply. Practitioners should have substantial experience in democracy promotion. Scholar applicants should have a doctorate or academic equivalent and a working knowledge of English. Writing Opportunities

Disability Studies Quarterly (Summer 2007) International Section is calling for papers in Hebrew and Arabic. This section of DSQ aspires to provide a varied account of research, personal narratives, descriptions, and analysis on the state of affairs of disability in Israel/Palestine to an English-reading public. Although the readership is international, and inquiries are welcome in Hebrew and English, papers must be submitted or translated into English. Authors of various disciplines, including applied professions, humanities, social sciences, and law are welcome. Papers should employ a disability studies perspective as the overarching theoretical frame. More information can be found on the DSQ Web site at: http://www.dsq-sds.org/principles.html.
