Funding/Grants/ Fellowships and Employment 
Isik University (Istanbul) Department of International Relations is seeking a lecturer-researcher in international relations, IR101. Preference will be given to scholars with a doctorate/PhD, teaching experience, publication record, and a willingness to combine teaching and research. Candidates will be expected to teach either: international relations theory, political theory, international organizations, international political economy, European Union, the politics of Russia and Central Asia, or Middle East politics. The candidate will also be encouraged to expand existing course offerings and to develop new and innovative areas in political science and international relations. Writing Opportunities 
The Brookings Institution, Center on the United States and Europe and the Trustees of Sabanci University, Istanbul announce the 2006 Sakip Sabanci International Research Award essay competition. This year’s essay topic will be "Turkey's New Geopolitical Environment: Policy Challenges and Opportunities for Engagement." The competition calls for original, essay-length (5,000-6,000 words) studies that address the key issues relating to the changes in Turkey's neighborhood and how Turkey might respond to these changes. First ($20,000), second ($10,000), and third place ($5,000) prizes will be announced in autumn 2005. Transnational Broadcasting Studies (TBS) the biannual e-journal of the Adham Center at the American University in Cairo is calling for papers for future issues. The Public Sphere, The Tel Aviv Journal of Political Science at the Tel Aviv University, is calling for papers for a new Hebrew political science journal which will come out beginning next fall. Scholars for Peace in The Middle East (SPME) is accepting submissions for an edited book, Psychotherapy in a Turmoil Region: Reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis from a Psychological Perspective. October 1-3, 2005. Stanford, California, USA. The second annual gathering of young Iranian scholars of North America organized by the Iranian Studies Program and the Persian Students Association at Stanford University, in collaboration with the Iranian Studies Group at MIT and the Iran Research Committee at the University of California-Berkeley, invites paper submissions. The conference will be hosted by Stanford University and seeks to bring together promising young Iranian scholars residing in North America who research various issues related to Iran and Iranian societies worldwide.
