IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Three books in print: We are pleased to announce that MERIA is going to have three books in print, texts based on MERIA authors and articles. The books are: Barry Rubin and Kemal Kirisci (eds.), "Turkey in World Politics: An Emerging Multi-Regional Power" in English and Turkish editions (Lynne Rienner Publishers; Bosphorus University Press); Barry Rubin (ed.), Revolutionaries and Reformers: Contemporary Islamist Movements in the Middle East (SUNY Press); and Barry Rubin (ed.), The Region at the Center of the World: Crises and Quandries in the Contemporary Persian Gulf (Frank Cass). We will bring you more news about these books as they are published and hope to do additional volumes in the future.

MERIA Continues to Grow: For January 2001, MERIA's site set new records, with 10,656 people visiting it. The number of adobe acrobat MERIA Journal articles downloaded alone tripled to reach 3,753. And 1,633 (892 more in February) people requested our online book, Barry Rubin, "Cauldron of Turmoil: America and the Middle East" (a figure in one month comparing well to the average overall sales for such books). For older issues, Daryl Champion's article on Saudi domestic politics alone (MERIA Journal, Vol. 3, No. 4 - December 1999) was downloaded by 536 people.

Several readers have asked how MERIA can be cited in academic publications and articles. Please note that most issues of the Journal are available in adobe acrobat .pdf files with page numbers. If you need any item that is not yet in this format, let us know and we will quickly put it in this arrangement for your footnoting convenience.
